<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance with respect to a weight distribution together with the liveliness, impact and vibration attenuation of a ball. SOLUTION: This bat has a cylindrical hitting area 14, a handle area 18 more distant from the hitting area 14 and a tapered transition area 22 between these two areas. A bat frame is made of a composite material consisting of fibers in a preform binder. A cylindrical dent is formed in the hitting area and has an annular inside surface and end faces parallel with the respective ends of the dent. An annular insert 42 made of metal has a cylindrical inside surface in contact with the inside surface of the dent, the end faces parallel with each other in contact with the end face of the dent and a cylindrical outside surface substantially flush with the part of the bat frame on the sides facing each other of the dent.</p> |
