PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noble gas discharge lamp capable of controlling the variation of an optical axis in the range having practically no problem by regulating an aperture part of a light emitting layer and an opening part between outside electrodes in the specified position relation by the relatively simple constitution. SOLUTION: A noble gas discharge lamp has a straight tube-shaped envelope 1 inside which a light emitting layer 2 having an aperture part 2a is formed and a sheet body structure 3 in which a pair of belt-shaped outside electrodes 5, 6 comprising metal member is separately arranged on one surface of a light transmissive sheet 4 having almost the same length as the total length of the envelope 1 so that a first opening part 7 is formed between each of the electrodes 5, 6. The sheet body structure 3 is positioned on the outer circumferential surface of the envelope 1, and the outside electrodes 5, 6 are positioned between the envelope 1 and the light transmissive sheet 4, the first opening part 7 is wound so as to position in the aperture part, an opening angleθ1 of the aperture part 2a is set to be larger than an opening angleθ2 of the first opening part 7, and the end parts 2A, 2B of the light emitting layer 2 are constituted so as not to extend to the first opening part 7.
