PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which deterioration in cycle capacity is retarded and cycle characteristics are enhanced by using a lithium composite oxide represented by a specific formula, obtained by introducing an oxygen defect into the lithium composite oxide as a positive material. SOLUTION: A lithium composite oxide, represented by a chemical formula of LiMO2-p (M is at least one kind of transition metals, and 0.05<=p<=0.3) obtained by introducing an oxygen defect into the lithium composite oxide, is used as a positive material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is manufactured. The transition metal M preferably is Ni, Co or a solid solution of metal or a composite metal represented by Coy Ni1-y (0.1<=y<=0.4), a negative electrode is made of a material capable of doping and undoping lithium (for example, a carbonaceous material), and a nonaqueous electrolyte is prepared by dissolving a lithium salt in propylene carbonate, for example. A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery with high cycle characteristics is obtained. |
