PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling tracking of an optical memory card capable of widening the tracking control range, detecting a track hold error easily, and preventing double writing or the like. SOLUTION: Guide tracks 2, 2a, 2b, 2c are alternately arranged via different intervals in a recording area of an optical memory card. Tracking control is carried out in accordance with a polarity of a difference signal of outputs of a photodetector at data-recording tracks 1, 1b held via a first interval by the guide tracks. At data-recording tracks 1a, 1c held via a second interval is carried out tracking control in accordance with a polarity of an inverted signal of the difference signal. |
