The present invention describes an insert part 8 for installing an electromagnetic idler on the rear axle of a heavy vehicle, so that small or no variations are caused along its transmission. The insert part 8, in the form of a plate, has a configuration that enables it to be fitted to the end of the output shaft 2 of the drive pinion and at the same time enables it to be attached 12 to the rotors 6 of the electromagnetic idler and acts as a fastening for the coupling plate 3. It also describes an installation carried out with the invention part. The invention proves especially useful in installing electromagnetic idlers on vehicles in which the distance between axles is reduced or in buses with a central or rear-mounted engine. <IMAGE>
