MEMORY MODULE MANAGING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method which efficiently manage memory modules of a computer system. SOLUTION: A management memory is provided which provides permanent storage of management information of a memory module within a range of the memory module. An error log showing time stamps regarding errors produced during the operation of the memory module is stored in the management memory. The error log contains a 1st list indicating time stamps regarding correctable errors produced during arithmetic operation of the memory module and a 2nd list indicating time stamps regarding uncorrectable errors produced during the arithmetic operation of the memory module. This error log is utilized to trace the error production history of a corresponding memory module.
