The safety tap with on/off rotary positions with a rotary locking unit (4) of the shaft consisting of two pieces (2,3) which are a sleeve (3) and the rotary shaft (2). In the shaft, there is a transverse cut-out (5) in which lodges a locking plunger (6) whose front end is held by a spring (7) into a complementary cut-out (11) in the sleeve. A tool (8) can be inserted into the back end (10) of the plunger to rotate it and thus retract it from the cut-out. The plunger incorporates a steeply inclined ramp (12) which cooperates with an external surface (13) of a ball (14) placed in a trough so that a small rotary motion of the plunger gives a rapid axial motion.
