PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the working efficiency in the image formation by permitting the fixing operation when the temperature reaches the lower temperature between the first temperature suitable for the fixing operation, and the second temperature necessary for fixing an image for the total area of the image to be formed. SOLUTION: A central control means CPU 1 calcualtes the total area of an image to be formed as the number of sheets of copy by conversion of standard paper, on the basis of the data input from an operation panel OP by an operator (number of sheets of copy, paper size), and a number of sheets of documents detected by the document size detecting sensors SE50-52. The minimum temperature necessary for fixing the image of the number of sheets of copy by conversion of standard paper, is calculated by utilizing the data stored in a read only memory ROM on the basis of the calcualted number of sheets of copy by conversion of standard paper. The start of the fixing operation can be permitted, when the temperature of a fixing member reaches the minimum temperature necessary for fixing the total image of the image to be formed corresponding to the using condition by the operator, so that the stand-by time of the operator can be made minimum, and the working efficiency can be improved. |
