PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical semiconductor device having high coupling efficiency by directly coupling an optical semiconductor element and the optical axis of an optical fiber by fitting of a recessed part and a projecting part. SOLUTION: The juncture of the optical semiconductor element 1 and the optical fiber 3 consists of the optical semiconductor element 1, the recessed part 2 formed at the optical semiconductor element 1, the optical fiber 3, a core part 4 of the optical fiber 3, the projecting part 5 including the core part 4 formed at the end face of the optical fiber 3 at its center and the clad part 6 of the optical fiber 3. The optical semiconductor element 1 and the optical fiber 3 are connected by fitting the recessed part 2 of the optical semiconductor element 1 and the projecting part 5 of the optical fiber 3. Formation of a projecting part may be formed in place of the recessed part 2 of the optical semiconductor element 1 and a recessed part in place of the projecting part 5 of the optical fiber 3. The light emitting part of the semiconductor laser which is the optical semiconductor element 1 and the core part 4 of the optical fiber 3 are directly coupled in such a manner and, therefore, the alignment of the optical axes of the optical semiconductor element 1 and the optical fiber 3 is executable. |
