Regulating pressure in fluid circuit

The pressure regulator for a fluid circuit supplied by a piston pump or compressor that is driven in rotation by a motor, operates by driving the motor in one direction to increase pressure and in the opposite direction to decrease fluid pressure. The motor is controlled by a time function to produce a progressive equalisation of pressure. Reversal of the direction of rotation of the pump or compressor causes opening of a valve to exhaust the fluid to the ambient pressure. This valve is closed by momentarily reversing the direction of rotation of the arm or compressor.
