Folded plate evaporator for combined domestic refrigerator/freezers

The plate evaporator is blanked from sheet material and box- formed to provide cooling surfaces for two compartments of a domestic refrigeration appliance. The combined evaporator (2) is manufactured in the usual way from a pair of formed sheets of metallic material with a continuous duct running between the sheets for the passage of refrigerant. An upper freezer section consists of a back section (4), a top section (6), a bottom section (20) and side sections (12,18), folded to form an open-fronted box. The rest of the plate (14) forms a rear panel for the refrigerator compartment. A continuous blanking process creates adjacent panels with little waste material.
