The riveting snap (26) is part of a multiply equipped machine, and each punch (28) is supported in the machine by a spring (54), with the whole unit movable by a piston and cylinder assembly. The riveting snaps are located in different planes. The rivet shanks (18) are cast as integral parts of the diecast component, which may be a cylinder head cover (10) made of aluminium or magnesium alloy. The riveting snaps are heated to approximately 750 degrees C, and riveting time is in the region of 5 seconds.
