A device comprising an integrating sphere (12) with a reflective inner surface, an infrared source (22) arranged to transmit incident infrared radiation (28) that is diffused by reflection from said inner surface, and a sensor (18) for measuring infrared radiation. An exposure window (16) is provided in the wall (14) of the sphere, and the measuring sensor (18) is in a position non-diametrically opposite the window (16) and has an aiming direction that passes through said exposure window and is achieved by means of focusing optics (21). The device is useful for determining the radiative properties of metal products such as metal sheets.
