PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject medicine capable of treating diseases showing the condition of sthenia of extracellular matrix production, comprising an aconitine as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This medicine comprises aconitine or its stereoisomer as an active ingredient. Aconitine as a component of a crude medicine Aconiti tuber specifically reduces synthesis of a heat shock protein (called HSP 47) having 47 kilodalton molecular weight, suppresses biosynthesis of collagen and inhibits extracellular matrix production. The medicine is effective for treating cirrhosis, interstitial lung disease, chronic renal insufficiency, hypertrophy of heart, postoperative cicatrice, burn cicatrice, keloid caused after traffic accident, etc., hypertrophic scar, scleroderma, arteriosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. The medicine is also effective for diseases caused by abnormal proliferation of arterialization and suppressing tumor metastasis. A daily dose is 1-100mg calculated as aconitine per adult and is orally or parenterally administrated once to four times dividedly.
