PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new peptide having a specific amino acid sequence, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibiting activity useful for a low toxicity hypotensive agent, a therapeutic agent for cardiac failure, etc., obtained from a proteolytic enzyme degradation liquid of laver or Hizikia fusiforme (a blown alga). SOLUTION: This new peptide has a peptide structure of L type amino acid sequence expressed by the formula Ala-Lys-Tyr-Cys-Tyr, and a peptide structure of L type amino acid sequence expressed by the formula Cys-Lys-Thr-Tyr, having angiotensin converting enzyme inhibiting activity, useful for prevention, treatment of hypertension as a hypotensive agent, etc., also useful for a therapeutic agent of cardiac failure, etc., having an activity for long term prognosis improvement and normalization of circulatory organs for congestive cardiac failure. The pentapeptide is obtained from the proteolytic enzyme degradation liquid of laver and the tetrapeptide is obtained from the proteolytic enzyme degradation liquid of Hizikia fusiforme respectively. |
