PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable modified polyester fiber having many streak-like unevenness oriented in the fiber axis direction on the fiber surface and having soft touch feeling without sliminess on the fiber surface. SOLUTION: The objective modified polyester fibers are composed of a blend polymer of a polyester and polypropylene and >=70% of the fiber surface is occupied with streak-like unevenness oriented in the fiber axis direction and a distance between adjacent depressed parts and a distance between adjacent projected parts in the streak-like unevenness are 0.1-2μm, respectively. A blend polymer composed of a polyester and 1-10wt.% of polypropylene is subjected to melt extrusion by passing through a static mixer having >=16,000 total liquid dividing number and as-spun yarns are once cooled, then drawn while running through a heating zone having temperatures within a glass transition temperature - a melting point in a non-contact state, thus wound at a speed of 3,000-6,000m/min. The resultant drawn yarns are subjected to weight reducing by an alkali to >=5% weight reduction percentage to obtain the objective modified polyester fibers. |
