DETECTOR FOR RESIDUAL QUANTITY OF INK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector for detecting the residual quantity and exhaustion of ink in an ink jet printer being used as an output machine of computer while simplifying the structure of the ink cartridge. SOLUTION: First and second detection electrodes 23, 24 are arranged, respectively, on the outer bottom face and the outer side face of an ink cartridge 6 without touching a conductive ink 7 and connected through resistors 25, 26 with a detection circuit 22. The detection circuit 22 detects a voltage generated from the second detection electrode 24 in order to detect the residual quantity of a conductive ink 7 and detects a voltage generated from the first detection electrode 23 in order to detect exhaustion of the conductive ink 7.
