PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling oil compsn, which hardly generates mist and is excellent in lustering, staining, and cleaning properties by compounding a specific mineral oil as the base oil with an oiliness improver and a polymer. SOLUTION: A mineral oil having an arom. content of 10vol.% or lower, pref. 3vol.% or lower, and a kinematics viscosity at 40 deg.C of 1-15mm<2> /s is used as the base oil and is compounded with 1-10 mass % oiliness improver and 0.05-5 mass % polymer having a number-average mol.wt. of 50,000-.00,000. Pref. the mineral oil is a hydrocracking oil obtd. by selectively hydrogenating arom. compds. of a feedstock oil, which is a mineral hydrocarbon oil having a b.p. of 360-590 deg.C. The oiliness improver used is a 12-18C monohydric alcohol (e.g. dodecanol), a 12-18C fatty acid (e.g. dodecanoic acid), mixture of a 12-18C fatty acid with a 1-12C monohydric alcohol (e.g. methanol). The polymer used is one derived from a 2-14C olefin or an ester of a 1-18C satd. monohydric alcohol with methacrylic acid. |
