A hand protection device for at least partially absorbing and distributing impact forces is disclosed. The hand protection device includes a deformable metal plate (10) capable of covering and conforming to at least a portion of the back side of an individual's hand. The device is designed for use on the back side (44) of an athletic glove (40).
