<p>The present invention provides a salt forming-type dye represented by the formula: <CHEM> [wherein Ka<+> is a C6-20 amine cation or a basic dye cation, and n is an integer of 1 to 4, which indicates the number of Ka<+>]. An ink composition containing the salt-forming type dye is also disclosed.</p>
