Provided is a thread supplying device for sewing machines for embroidery. The thread supplying device comprises a unitarized bobbin storage section (22) arranged in an upper part of a sewing machine head and capable of storing a plurality of bobbins, a nipper bar actuating mechanism (24) provided with thread tension adjusting mechanisms (25) and thread forwarding mechanisms (28), both of which are provided in accordance with the number of bobbins that can be stored, and a thread selecting mechanism (29) for selectively positioning a thread forwarding mechanism corresponding to a bobbin used, above a threader device corresponding to a predetermined needle, the bobbin storage section and the thread tension adjusting mechanism being constructed so as to be capable of being divided. At the time of color thread change and thread breakage, changing either of the divided units can shorten a time for processing.
