Screw-clamped connector for overhead 380kV power line cables

A so-called fish-connector provides a means of connecting two freely supported overhead cables. The connector has two end sections 2',3' that have bolts 5 for securing the ends of the cables. The end sections are coupled to a centre section 3 that has a ball bearing races 6,6,. A coupling pin 4 passes through the centre part and is secured by a clamping pin 8. An electrical contact is maintained across the connector by a pin 9 having spring contact laminates.
