A retention device for sensors measuring the mutual movement of two relatively rotating members such as the races of a rolling-contact bearing is described, of the type consisting of a rotating phonic wheel (20) and a sensor (21) facing it. The non-rotating bearing race (10) is provided in at least one of its opposing faces with a circumferential groove (16) of the type normally used for holding protective shields (14). The device consists of a body (24) of substantially annular shape provided with retention means (25, 25a, 27) for the sensor (21) and comprising means (26a) for its fixing to the non-rotating race (10) which are locked into the groove (16).
