PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a grain oriented silicon steel sheet of prescribed magnetic properties with high productive efficiency while minimizing the occurrence of cracking at the time of cold rolling, by subjecting a silicon steel slab of specific Al content to heating to a low temp., to hot rolling, and then to specific hot rolled plate annealing. SOLUTION: A silicon steel slab, containing, by weight, 0.010-0.020% Al and also containing preferably 0.015-0.065% C, is heated to <=1260 deg.C and hot- rolled. Then, hot rolled plate annealing, consisting of short-time annealing at <=1000 deg.C for <=60sec, is applied to the resultant hot rolled plate. This hot rolled plate is cold-rolled once or is cold-rolled two or more times, while process- annealed between cold rolling stages, to final sheet thickness. It is preferable to perform this cold rolling by using a tandem mill at >=100 deg.C. The resultant cold rolled sheet is subjected to decarburizing annealing, and then, after the application of a separation agent at annealing, composed of MgO, etc., final finish annealing is carried out. |
