PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of a streak or uneven density due to the inflec tion point of a curled recording paper. SOLUTION: A nip carrying section 15, a thermal head 31 and an optical fixing unit 35 are arranged in the feeding direction of a recording paper 16. The recording paper 16 is wound, by a predetermined angle, around the capstan roller 20 at the nip carrying section 15 and the recording paper 16 is fed forward and backward alternately a plurality of times. During three backward feed operations of the recording paper 16, yellow, magenta and cyan images are recorded sequentially by means of a thermal head 31. Immediately before recording the magenta and cyan images, the yellow and magenta images are fixed by means of an optical fixing unit 35. Feeding operation of the nip carrying section 15 is sustained for a while immediately after finishing the recording of each image, and the forward end of the recording paper 16 is fed back closely to the nip carrying section 15. Since the recording paper 16 is not fed under a state where the nip carrying section is located in the way of the recording paper, the inflection point of curl is not generated in the recording area. |
