PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the quantity of wearing, in particular wearing caused by corrosion even in a corrosive environment by providing a multilayer structure composed of stainless steel/TiC/stainless steel. SOLUTION: Ti foil l having a thickness of about 0.05mm is held between two plates 2 and 3 of martensitic stainless steel having a thickness of, for instance about 0.5mm, its thickness is made to be about 0.75mm by cold rolling and, by repeating this cold rolling, a three layer clad material having a thickness of about 0.5mm is manufactured. Then, after this three layer clad member is heated by the temperature of about 1000 deg.C and held in this state for about five minutes, the member is subjected to a heat treatment including air cooling and quenching. This heat treatment quench-hardens the stainless steel and produces TiC by combining C contained in the stainless steel and Ti contained in a Ti alloy. |
