PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance electromagnetic conversion characteristics and to lower the rate of producing errors by using a specific film as a non-magnetic base and adding a specific org. phosphorus compd. to a magnetic layer or nonmagnetic layer. SOLUTION: The non-magnetic base of the magnetic tape for recording computer data having 4.0 to 7.0μm overall thickness is formed by using a film consisting of arom. polyamide, arom. polyamide imide or polyimide and having 2.0 to 4.7μm thickness. The magnetic layer 6 has 0.1 to 1.5μm thickness and is formed on the base 4 via the nonmagnetic layer 5 which contains non- magnetic powder and binder, is substantially non-magnetic and has 1.0 to 2.5μm thickness. Either layer of the magnetic film 6 and the non-magnetic layer 5 contains the org. phosphorus compd. expressed by formula I, formula II or formula III.
