PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the force of adhesion between a barrier plate material layer and a plasma-display-panel barrier plate forming surface on a substrate to prevent separation of a barrier plate from the barrier plate forming surface during a disposal process, etc., by roughening the barrier plate forming surface to a predetermined depth, and performing subsequent processes thereafter. SOLUTION: In a method for forming the barrier plate of a plasma display panel in which the barrier plate partitioning a discharge space is formed on a substrate, the barrier plate forming surface of the substrate 1 is roughened to a predetermined depth. After a barrier plate material layer 4 is deposited on the barrier plate forming surface roughened, a mask 6 with a masking pattern corresponding to the barrier plate is provided on the barrier plate material layer 4. The bulkhead material layer 4 is partly removed by spraying of abrasives, the barrier plate 7 is formed beneath the mask 6, and the mask 6 is removed thereafter. Such a method enables the force of adhesion between the barrier plate 7 and the substrate 1 to be increased by the force of adhesion between the mask 6 and the barrier plate 7, making the barrier plate 7 unlikely to separate from the substrate 1. |
