FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely rough rolling of rails. SUBSTANCE: roll grooved pass system includes box pass, beam pass for preliminarily cutting blank faces used for making rail flange and rolling surface of rail head, box pass for elimination of preliminary cutting of said faces, trapezoidal pass for cutting faces at side of rail flange. Beam passes and trapezoidal pass have horizontal platforms in mean portions of their ridges. Said horizontal platforms are arranged symmetrically at both sides of vertical axis. Total width of said platforms is equal to 0.4-0.5 of height of previous box grooved pass; they are spaced from ridge apexes by distance equal to 0.4-0.6 of height of ridge.
