PURPOSE:To form an image having the optimum size in matching relation to the size of an image forming medium by detecting the size of the image stored in an image memory device and applying necessary variable power processing to received image data according to the detection result. CONSTITUTION:The data stored in memories 4252 R, G, B are read in synchronous relation to the CLK 9453 and HSYNC 9452 of an image memory device 3. A system controller 4210 transmits only the effective regions of the images in the image data 9420 R, G, B from the memories 4252 R, G, B to memories 4050 R, G, B and performs trimming processing and variable power processing at this time. By setting the writing data to an RAM 4212 to '1' in an image data effective region to limit the reading thereof, the contraction of desired image data in a main scanning direction is possible. A CPU 4360 writes data controlling the writing of the sub-scanning direction region of a digitizer 16 to memories 4060 R, G, B in a RAM 4217. The data in an image ineffective region is set to '1' and the data in an effective region is set to '0' at the time of equimultiple and to '1' at the time of contraction corresponding to the magnification thereof. |
