<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture decoding method capable of reducing the influence of erroneous propagation without deteriorating picture quality. SOLUTION: A predictive value generating part 106 generates a predictive value corresponding to a pixel value inputted from a pixel value input part 101 by using pixels around the input pixel. A quantized representative value for the input pixel value is set through a linear quantizer generating part 102 and a non-linear quantizer generating part 103. A quantization part 104 selects a quantized representative value closet to the input value and outputs the selected value to an output part 105. Consequently highly efficient non-linear quantization can be executed without preparing a quantization table, and since the input pixel value is directly quantized, the influence of a transmission line error can be extremely reduced.</p> |
