PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily understand the operating status and the caused abnormal content of an electronic equipment by receiving an optical signal from the light emitting element of an electronic equipment whose flickering pattern is changed according to operational states and selecting a sign or a character string corresponding to the pattern from a transformation table and displaying it. SOLUTION: This device is used by opposing the light receiving element 111 of a light receiving part 11 to the LED 21 of an electronic equipment 20. When the LED 21 of the equipment 20 is flickered with a prescribed pattern, this flickering is received in the light receiving element 111 as an optical signal to be inputted to a decoding part 112, which recognizes flickering pattern of the LED 21 from the electric signal received from the light receiving element 111 and selects the sign or the character string in accordance with the flickering pattern by referring to the transformation table stored in a memory 113. Then, the sign or the character string selected via the display control circuits is made to be displayed on the LCD 121 of a display part 12. An operator grasps the operational status and the abnormal content of the electronic equipment 20 by seeing this display. |
