摘要 A motion data processing system (100) employs a specialized motion processing language and database (150) created in a computer's memory. The database provides consistent, concurrent motion data, allowing the user to minimize the number and type of additional data files that must be maintained. The specialized language provides a common interface, enabling different views of the motion data in the database according to the application module executed by a user. The system also provides a transformer for efficiently applying motion data with a particular hierarchy to geometry data with a different hierarchy. Structures incorporated in the language enable a user to input a variety of file types into individual or common databases. The language also enables a user to output the motion data in variety of file formats. The database may be written to an ASCII file, and then recreated from the file by the language interpreter. The specialized language provides the ability to associate a variety of data structures, both within and outside of the database, with elements of the motion data. Also disclosed is a system for applying motion capture data to a character motion hierarchy to provide a more accurate motion representation. The position of certain nodes in a motion hierarchy are modified to allow application of motion data to a character having a different physiology than that of the motion capture subject. The present invention provides the ability to modify the angular information of individual motion hierarchy nodes and segments based on transnational information associated with the source hierarchy. This provides a continuity of motion in the resulting motion representation that is not available with conventional motion processing methods.
