Resonance damper for motor vehicle exhaust pipe

The damper is for harmonic frequencies formed at the perforations (2) of a pipe (1,3) for silencing a pulsating gas flow. Spaced (1) from the perforations (2) is a constriction in the pipe diameter. The construction can be formed by a toroidal ring (4) placed in the pipe, or a groove can be formed in the pipe itself. The cross section of the constriction can be semi-circular. A smaller diameter pipe can be inserted into the exhaust pipe to reduce the diameter.
