The device has a heat exchanger in the engine coolant circuit for temperature equalisation of the air stream admitted to the cabin. The cold energy module has a coolant circuit with at least one evaporator and one condenser. The module is in the engine bay and a control unit (8) is assigned to the heat exchanger(6,7) for selective connection of the coolant circuit flowing through the evaporator and/or of the coolant circulation flowing through the condenser of the module. The heat exchanger is located in an air conditioning unit and the control unit is between this and the cold module. The air conditioning unit has two heat exchangers for heating and cooling with the same coolant.
