In order to improve the manoeuvrability and driving stability on cornering of a vehicle fitted with an anti-lock braking system, a special control mode is activated when cornering is detected. In given situations, erroneous detection is possible. According to the invention, in order to overcome the disadvantageous effects of such erroneous detection, the re-acceleration (ai) of the wheel (i) on which the pressure has erroneously been relieved is analysed and braking pressure is controlled for the duration of the period of time during which an acceleration limiting value (alimit1,2) is exceeded.
