A siphon for conveying fine particulate solid materials consists of a pipe (8) connected to a device for feeding the material and a more or less oppositely directed second pipe (9) to which a further pipe (10) is connected, in which the material can be conveyed by gravity alone. One or more lances (11), which are provided with gas outlet openings to fluidise the particulate solid material, extend into a region filled with the solid particulate material. A gas flow can be introduced into the lances.
