<p>The drive mechanism for the feed rolls (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) of a forage harvester is equipped with a device for the rapid cut-off of the drive, whilst a cut-off coupling (26) having a ratchet mechanism (27, 35) is to bring the drive to a standstill instantaneously. The energy of rotation stored in the feed rolls (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) leads to high force peaks when the cut-off time is short. In order to reduce these force peaks, at least one drive element (24, 47, 48, 49) which is torsionally elastic or which converts energy of rotation is to be inserted into the drive train between the cut-off coupling (26) and the feed rolls (5, 6, 7, 8, 9). For example, a torsion-bar spring can be used as a torsionally elastic drive element and a slip coupling can be used as a drive element converting energy of rotation. <IMAGE></p> |
