PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly relieve a gear-shift shock by a downshift when a throttle valve is fully closed. SOLUTION: If an idle switch is in its ON state in S1, deceleration speed- change control is performed in S3 for holding the engine speed where deceleration fuel-cutting is performed. When a downshift is to be operated during deceleration fuel-cutting in S4, the auxiliary quantity of air is increased in S6 or S8 and the fuel-cutting is then interrupted in S9 to forcibly increase the engine torque thereby relieving a gear-shift shock. If the downshift during the deceleration fuel-cutting is a manual downshift caused by the gearshift operation by the driver, the increment in the auxiliary quantity of air is reduced, ISCmn< ISCauto, than in an automatic downshift by the deceleration speed-change control to thereby effect a proper deceleration feeling according to the deceleration intention of the driver. |
