A glove has an outer layer (10) made from a material such as polyester, wool or leather, and a lining (20) which has a coating or pads of silicone (30) on the finger and thumb tips. The silicone layer is applied to a surface of a non-stretch material, e.g. polyurethane, and is located on the palm side of the glove. On the back of the hand the lining is made from a three-layer textile material (40) - two layers of a woven fabric linked by a third layer of an elastic material. The lining can be either completely removable from the outer glove e.g. for drying or use to make precise hand movements, or it can be connected to the outer glove at the wrist.
