PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fogging from occurring because exposure from light generated from a corona source collides with an electric charge receptor before it is electrified by arranging a part interfering corona generating light between a corona source and the electric charge receiving body without exerting an excessive effect on the performance of an electrifying device. SOLUTION: The electrifying device 20 is provided with an upper electrode 27 and the electrode 27 is extended to a position where it becomes in parallel with a corona generation electrode 21 and the right end thereof is vertically arranged to the left end of the electrode 21 in a line. As the result, the light 17 collides with an electric charge holding part 11 before it is electrified as the form of ion 16. By the lower electrode 24 of one side of an insulating member 23 to which AC power is imparted, an area where corona is generated is formed along the left end of the electrode 12. Besides, the area is formed by the DC potential given to the electrodes 21 and 27 and electric charge flowing to the holding member 11 of an image member 10 is driven so as to be uniformized. The corona 16 is generated at the left end of the electrode 21.
