This press has a cylinder consisting of a sleeve inside which a cylinder can be displaced and is axially fitted, which cylinder includes a plate at its end and is actuated by a piston, in such a manner that said plate pushes and presses the mass to be pressed against a gate provided for this purpose at the end of the sleeve. The mass to be pressed gains access to the inside of the sleeve via a loading and entry hopper and, as it is pressed against the gate, liquid is produced which falls under gravity through holes in the sleeve, whilst the pressed subproduct is expelled outside by means of the corresponding opening in the gate. The opening and closing movements of this gate are synchronized with those of the pushing and pressing plate. The press is used for pressing grape mass and obtaining, separately, the must (liquid) and grape marc ("oruja") (subproduct). <IMAGE>
