The golf ball is put into a hemi-spherical hole (2) in a base (1). The concave part of the hole has a support (3) that holds three rubber plates (4) which are permanently inked. They are inked by a convex pad which is soaked with ink that is supplied from a reservoir. The plates have letters, numbers or other symbols cut into them. The base can be square, round or any other shape and it is made of plastics material, wood or metal. The hole is about 2 mm larger than the diameter of the ball.
