PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the rotating speed and torque of a vibration actuator by deforming the waveform of a vibration mode in which the amplitude of a barrel section which occurs near a driving surface becomes larger, as compared with the amplitude of the barrel section occurring at another spot. SOLUTION: The small-diameter sections 38a and 38c of a vibrator 35 are formed at positions F and G at distances equal to about 3% of the full length of the vibrator 35 from both end faces. When the vibrator 35 is replaced with a spring-mass system, the vibrator becomes equivalent to a case in which the mass sections formed at end sections are made smaller than those formed in other sections, and the central mass is made larger than those formed at other sections. Therefore, the vibrating speeds increase at the left and right end faces A and C, where the mass sections become smaller, because the effects of inertia decrease, but the vibrating speed of the central section B where the effects of inertia decreases. Thus when the vibrating speed increases, the amplitude increases, and when the vibrating speed decreases, the amplitude decreases. |
