PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect amt. of remaining of ink without providing an electrode in the ink. SOLUTION: A light-emitting element 92 and a light-receiving element 94 are provided above and below an ink absorbing body 32 for absorbing ink when flashing is performed. In addition, when an inkjet head 20 jets the ink to the ink-absorbing body 32, the light-emitting element 92 is emitted and change in the quantity of this emitted light is detected by means of the light-receiving element 94 to detect the amt. of remaining of the ink based on the detecting result. The amt. of the remaining of the ink can be detected without providing an electrode in the ink. In addition, as no influence based on change in resistance of the ink caused by deterioration of the ink is received, detection of the remaining amt. of the ink with high accuracy can be performed. |
