PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a film which is excellent in stretchability at the time of production and has excellent optical characteristics, such as degree of polarization and transmittance, by uniaxially stretching a polyvinyl alcohoic(PVA) polymer film constituted by forming a compsn. obtd. by compounding polyglycerol of a specific ratio with the PVA polymer as a film. SOLUTION: The polarizing film contg. a dichromatic material is produced by uniaxially stretching the PVA polymer film constituted by forming the compsn. obtd. by compounding 1 to 100 pts.wt. polyglycerol with 100 pts.wt. PVA polymer as the film. The PVA polymer to be used is obtd. by saponification of a polyvinyl ester-based polymer obtd. by subjecting a vinyl ester monomer, such as vinyl acetate, to radical polymn. If the film is produced by using the PVA polymer contg. the polyglycerol in such a manner, the film having the better optical characteristics than in the case the film is produced by using the PVA polymer contg. glycerol is obtd. |
