PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube, which can improve the leakage electric field shielding effect, and the manufacture thereof by forming the outer surface of a face plate with a high refractive index transparent conductive layer and a low refractive index transparent layer made of the predetermined material. SOLUTION: A high refractive index transparent conductive layer 2 formed in the outer surface of a face plate 1 is formed of Ag fine particle at 0.005μm of mean particle diameter, and the surface resistance thereof is set at 9×10<2> Ω/square or less. A low refractive index transparent layer 3 is formed of a silica (SiO2 ) film, which is formed on the high refractive index transparent conductive layer 2. With this film structure, leakage electric field strength at 1.0V/m or less as a guide line of TCO can be achieved. Thickness of an optical film of each layer on the face plate 1 is set at 1/4 of the wavelength of the incident light. |
