Construction of pneumatic tyre on rim with separable drum section

This pneumatic tyre and rim accord with patent no. P 44 46 234.4. The tyre is mounted on the rim before vulcanisation. The axial extent of the rim may be varied before vulcanisation. Suitable sealing is incorporated. Also claimed is the manufacture of a tyre in accordance with P 44 46 234.4. Before vulcanisation, the structural materials of the tyre are placed on the rim, which is then reduced in its axial extent, i.e. closed together and sealed. After this contraction, before vulcanisation, the tyre materials are expanded radially, to produce the torus form of the tyre. Also claimed are: use of a rim to make the tyre; and its application as an element of the chamber used in application of internal pressure to the tyre, during vulcanisation.
