Endoscopic intervention device with flexible shaft

A device for endoscopic intervention has a flexible shaft with a activating organ on the proximal end which activates an appliance on the distal end of the shaft by way of an operating wire running down the middle of the flexible plastics tubular sheath of the shaft. The shaft (11) has a smooth surface and the plastics material from which the sheath is made (a) has a modulus of elasticity in flexure of 2000-25000 MPa, (b) has a ball hardness of >150 MPa, (c) is resistant to ethylene oxide, (d) is resistant to temperatures up to at least 135 deg C and (e) has a moisture absorption of < 3.0 wt. %.
