Compacting of grainy or powdered goods e.g. in coffee mill

The procedure compacts goods that are passed to a first section (3) with determining of the degree of compaction. This degree is controlled again in an outlet section (6). For an independent effect upon the compaction degree in the first section and another section (5), in both sections separate devices (7,8) are used to absorb energy. The energy absorption in at least one of these two sections is controlled depending on a fixed parameter of the relative delivery quantity, especially after the outlet region. The control takes place in a sequence whereby first the energy in one device is controlled and then, if the second section has controlled energy, this is only after the first section has reached a certain energy threshold.
